Unused fibers (wires) in a flat ribbon cable

My datatable is a 10 conductor multi-color ribbon cable.

P9 is a 9 pin single row connector.

P10 is a 10 pin single row connector.

In Creo Schematic 1.0 the cable routes perfectly from P10-1 to P9-1 leaving P10-10 open, see image.

However, the xml file shows all ten WIRING_WIREs where wire 10 does not have an ATTACH_TO node. In ProE, wire 10 does not have a port to route.

Shouldn't Creo Schematic leave out the unsused fibers from the xml? If not, what is the best method in dealing with this unmatched set?

I see two real options on the flattened cable drawing: 1) show wire 10 connector to P10 and cut short of P9. 2) Do not show wire 10 (like the schematic) and have a note on the drawing to strip back the unused wire.

A side note: The cable auto-routes from P10 to P9 with all shown fibers. Routing from P9 to P10 routes only one fiber at a time. Why?

Thanks.10-9_ribbon.JPG
