Weld strength calculations

Hello all. Sorry this is off the Pro/E topic, but there is such a
wealth of information here, it's really the best place to look.



I have been requested to check a design for a lifting frame that will be
welded together. Can anyone direct me to a good summary on the proper
way to calculate weld strength?



Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Hello Tony,



The traditional way of analyzing a weld to use the method of treating

it as a line. The books you need to purchase are any books by

Omer W. Blodgett. The book of his that I own and refer to occasionally

is his Design of Weldments book found here:
