Wire vs. Cable

Cablero's,

According to an old text I have, it reads:

...a wire (one conductor) or a cable (one or several conductors).....

Why would one choose to create a wire instead of a cable?

I understand the difference....but....if a cable with one conductor is the same as a wire....why use wire at all?

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Good question... I think the answer is really personal preference...
The answer for us is that we always make "cables" whether it is one
conductor or many.
I think the technical answer is that a "wire" is a "part" and a "cable"
is an "assembly"
but when that translates to cabling, it really isn't very useful.
Also it creates a lot of confusion while routing...
