drawings of family table parts

I have a part with different family table instances and I want to create individual drawings of each instance. Is there a way to do this without creating a new drawing over and over, dimensioning each one from scratch?

yes,
create the first drawing, copy the drawing over and then replace the model
with the next instance
bingo!

Sure. Create the first drawing & fully dimension it, create all views, etc.

Then do a Save As on the drawing.

Open the new drawing, RMB in the background (ie not on a view) > Properties
> Drawing Models > Replace > Select the instance you want. Save it. Done .

(works in WF2 & WF3 - I don't' know about other versions).

I think what Robert meant is to do a SaveAs to the new drawing name, then
switch the models.

The only problem I know of with that is, at one time you couldn't repeat
dimensions on more than one drawing, because of maintaining all of the
drawings tied to that generic model. I am not sure if that was a bug at
that time, but because we use tabulated drawings it has never been an
issue for us.

Yes Larry, you are correct, I answered a bit too quickly. Save as is the
correct technique. Also a few words of caution. If you are using shown
dimensions be aware that any change to them will of course propagate
through the family of drawings. For created dimensions, (no debates
please) the default is that the dimensions get stored with the model. If
you create a dimension on drawing -001 and delete that dimension on
drawing -002. the dimension will also be deleted from drawing -001. Use
erase instead of delete and you will not have this problem.

You can switch the model and "Save As" or you can insert this table and have a tabulated drawing.

Hi,

I just tried this trick. It works fine except that my dimensions (shown) all disappear once I replace the parts. Any idea why?

Thanks,
