how to make ribbed tube in ptc creo 3?

Dear all,

I am newbie in PTC Creo parametric 3. I want to draw a ribbed-pipe (i send you sample of ribbed tube). I am trying to make the ribbed on the wall by using sphere and cylinder. But, When i try to remove material (by using extrude option) of the main pipe I get some trouble such as material cannot be removed. Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you best regards

Teguh

I might try this as a surface model; merged and thickened.

I managed to do it like the attached.

Basically, I created two set of the ribs first (the ones that would sit tangent to the axis line on your JPEG):

  • Create planes that would sit tangent to the pipe inside surface on opposite sides
  • Sketch one rib on one plane, which covers one 'alpha' offset and revolve to make it a solid
  • Direction geometry pattern to get the right number of ribs
  • Axial geometry pattern x 3 with 120 degree offset
  • Sketch other rib on other plane, which covers opposite 'alpha' offset and revolve to make it a solid
  • Repeat geometry patterns as above

Then create the pipe using whatever way you like. I chose to extrude from a start point, where the inside surface was tangent to the planes created earlier
