I would like to know best way to create .nwf file from excel file for creating cabling through logical data.
Hi Syed...
There are many pieces to the NWF file... and some lend themselves to creation from Excel better than others. The technique I use it to start with a template NWF file. This file has all the spools I typically use already defined. Next, I add in the connectors I need for each harness. Over time, you'll end up with templates for each connector making this part very easy. The only thing you need to change is the reference designators for each connector. The rest is just an exercise in copy/paste and some light text editing.
Where Excel really shines is in developing your wire and cable attachments (From/To) . In June, I co-presenteed Ninja Cabling 3D which discussed the topic of creating an NWF file from Excel in detail. I'm attaching a video demonstrating several ways to generate an NWF file (including generating From/To attachment data directly from Excel).
There's quite a bit more to discuss about this topic but hopefully this gets you pointed in the right direction.
Thanks!

Hi Syed...
I don't understand what happens to the videos I upload to these pages... literally I can see the video and it plays just fine. But this is the same thing that happens to many of my other videos. I can see them but apparently no one else can! It's rather frustrating.
On my end, the upload seems to work- but for others, it does not.
Can anyone else see the video (if anyone else is reading this thread?) Syed, if you want to send me a private email with your email address, I will give you access to my DropBox which has all of my videos and all of my Ninja Cabling documents available for download. This is a massive amount of data that cannot be uploaded to the PTC Community. I don't think another attempt at uploading the video will be worthwhile because the first attempt did work for me... but something stops others from seeing it. I think trying again is a waste of time. It might be easier just to give you access to the entire library of files. Send me a private email and I'll give you access.
Thanks!

Hi Brian,
Thank you for that kind reply, I will send you mail.

I can't see the video either. It would be really helpful if I could get a link for the video as well.
Thanks
Vipul
Can you share the video to my email?

Hi Syed...
In the video, I mention both the template.nwf file and the NWF Generator Tool. I'm attaching the NWF template to this message. I'll try to attach the NWF Generator Tool but I'm not sure if it will work. This is a macro-enabled Microsoft Office file I created as a 'proof-of-concept' for a greater, more ambitious project I'm working on. I'll also attach the sample Excel file used in the video.
Now you'll have all of the pieces that go with the video.
Thanks!
-Brian
