"Save new files to model's CAD document"

When I do 'save a copy' to pdf, I get a checkbox that says "Save new
files to model's CAD document" that is automatically checked. I see no
useful purpose for this. I can't find the document after I save it if I
check it. Does anyone use this, and if so, what for?

Ken,
this functionality will add the PDF as an attachment to the original CAD
model. The idea is to link the derived copy to the original CAD model for
traceablity in Windchill.
There is a property/preference that will render the attachment
"out-of-sync" when the CAD model is iterated, which I have forgotten.
Maybe some one can chime in on that?

The replies follow
They become "attachments" in the Windchill CAD Document record. To
retrieve the .PDF, you have to go to the "attachments" section of the
Windchill CAD Document record. To remove the .PDF, you have to use "edit
attachments".
Here's a way to turn off the check box.

I presume you are using Windchill. The file is saved as an attachment
to the CAD file in Windchill. There is a config.pro option to have the
box unchecked by default:

dm_save_as_attachment no
