reverse engineering of human bones from MRI, CT and Xray data

Hello,

In November of last year I took a CMM and reverse engineering short course from the local reseller of GOM hardware.

I want to learn more about scanning technologies, at the moment I´m interested in using reverse engineering techniques to create 3d models of bones and other human parts.

How can MRI, CT and x-ray images be used to create a point cloud that would allow me to create a model of a human bone?? How can I convert 2d images into a 3d point cloud?? Do MRI or CT scanners save x,y,z information??

thank you, best regards
