simplified reps updating from master

Am I going nuts? I assemble a new component into a simplified rep, then
open an older rep and the component if there too. I want all the reps to
stay the same. It's like they pull everything from the Master until I
exclude them. Is there a setting to keep simplified reps "frozen" until
you assemble a part directly into it?

I would like to display a string parameter in two places of my drawing. When
pulling the format to use I am asked twice for the information for the
parameter. Is there a way to display this without having to input twice the
same value? EX: &JOB# located a bottom and side of drawing

Thanks

Dale

Simplified reps come in two flavors, I believe.  Either include
everything unless I exclude it (the default) or exclude everything
unless I include it.

Adding a component to the assembly while in a simplified rep still adds
it to the assembly, so any default 'include' reps will get that
component.

As I understand it.....

If the "default rule" is set to exclude, any new component will be Excluded.

similarly, if the "default rule" is set to Master, any new component will be Included as a master rep.

I'm not so sure about when the default rule is set to Graphics or Geometry
