Hi @Catalina ,

Good Morning,

I have created an animation in creo illustrate with some callouts & notes, but as I am exporting the animation as a nmp4 file the notes, callouts & even the 3D model is misplaced from its position as in preview.

for eg. If I have kept the 3D model in the center & inset view in top right & note in bottom left, so after exporting the animation in a video file the positions of the 3D Model, inset & notes shouldn't change but its being misplaced by some distance.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Aditya Gupta.

Hi Aditya1702,

it looks like you need to assign a page size. Then Creo Illustrate knows which region to capture.

Hi Aditya1702,

today I tested it again.....and what can I say.....it didn't worked as I said.

Assigning a page size was not helpful.

So in conclusion --> YES, the problem that the video output-area can't be definend is still a big TOPIC!!

Has someone a solution?

Best regards

Hello,

I have done quite a few animations over the last 6 years in Creo Illustrate.  I can talk about what has worked for me in the past when it comes to making the output and framing the way I want it.

A lot of times, it is the Creo Illustrate and even Windows interface that are causing the framing to be altered from what we want.  I'm guessing we're all looking to create typical 16 X 9 aspect ratio (720p, 1080p, or 4K) framing.

Certainly there are the little buttons on the edges of the panels that are supposed to compensate the framing for the panels being in view.  I've found that to not work completely well.

What has worked for me, for the most part, is to show the 3D viewport in a separate window.  This can be done by right clicking the light blue bar across the top of the 3D viewport.

Using that separate window, you can full screen it on another monitor.  If you also hide your Windows taskbar, the 3D viewport is now almost identically shaped to a normal monitor, which is the output most people would desire.

So you separate the window, hide all extra UI, fullscreen the window, then set build up and set your Figure.

Now, when I make my animation and click export, the aspect ratio is already very nearly what I want.  The top of the separate Creo Illustrate window eats just a little bit of space.  I turn off "Lock aspect ratio" and change the Height to 1080.  Does this change the framing?  A very small amount yes, but I've found it to not be enough to matter too much.

So here is my final.  An exported 1920 X 1080 video, and the fullscreen Creo Illustrate separate window.  The framing is very slightly different, but my leadership and customers have never had an issue with the tiny offset.  This has consistently worked for me for several years now.

Of course, this only works for typical 1080p or 720p framing.  Or 4k if you have a 4K monitor.  For framing at other shapes, I suppose you'd have to get creative with making sure the Creo Illustrate window is just the right shape for what you want.

Hopefully this helps

Good morning Mwolfe_mn,

Thank you for your constructive solution. Overall, it's more than sad that PTC doesn't offer a reasonable solution here.

I mean, 3D animation is a great tool. But the fact that there isn't a reasonable solution for recording it on film leaves me perplexed!

Hi @Mwolfe_mn ,

Thanks a lot for your suggestion I would definitely try out and let you know about the same.

I had given up on this as I had tried many ways to predict the positions of the annotations in the outpu(mp4) file but I didn't found any solution.

It is great to hear about the alternative way to tackle with the same.

Thanks once again.
