Sub components in assembly can only be master repconfiguration

Sub components in assembly can only be master repconfiguration

Choosing User Defined for this sub assembly in this simplified rep automatically unchecks the part.  Checking the box sets it back to Master Rep.  How do I get a user defined representation to be allowed to display for this subassembly?

The checkmark will toggle thru certain options only, not all options.

But if you select user defined, you can choose any rep of the component selected. Notice the checkbox in the second example, its got a different symbol.

In my example, I didn't have a defined user rep, so I just selected default rep for an example.

Unfortunately, by me selecting user defined, it automatically unchecks the box.  Rechecking the box changes the representation back to master rep.  Without that box being checked, the part is excluded from the .pvz when saving it out.

So the issue is more with exporting a .pvz, which I don't have much experience with, of an assembly with a simplified rep.

I would suggest opening a support case with PTC.

I gave it a try with my simple test assembly, and it seems to work just fine for me.  Creo 7.0

The part is present in the saved out .pvz, but it comes in unchecked (like it is in the configuration in creo) when selecting the configuration from the viewables tab.  I need it to display when selecting the configuration here.

Hi, this has not been solved yet.  Thanks

I would say that it functions correctly in creo parametric, the problem isn't there.

Seems like this is a creo view problem?

You can post that problem here https://community.ptc.com/t5/Addtl-Creo-Products-View-Sketch/bd-p/creogeneral

or you can ask a moderator to move the post for you.

Hello, the problem is in Creo.  If the box is checked in Creo, it is checked in the .pvz file.  However, checking the box in Creo forces the simp rep to be master, when I need it to be user defined.

I tend to disagree. All functions with Creo are working as expected. So either the pvz recipe file is causing the problem or there is an issue with creo view.

Are you using a supported version of Creo and creo view and are you on maintenance? If so, I would suggest opening a tech support ticket.

So creo is unable to have a configured assembly with configurable parts?

I am using creo 10 with creo view.

I think you are putting a meaning to the checkbox that isn't correct, at least in creo parametric, specifically in creo parametric.

I created a quick test assy and part with reps.

I configured the part with a rep and one of the sub assy's with a rep. Set those reps as user defined. In creo parametric, everything is working as expected.

Notice the "test-part-1" with a rep is unchecked but it is corrected within creo parametric.

Within creo parametric, everything seems to be functioning as expected. The export to creo view OR within creo view itself, it isn't understanding the rep. I am not familiar with creo view export recipe file or with creo view settings, so I am not really able to help with that part.

Thank you for the effort in the test assembly.  So what does that check box do then?  Because parts that are fine to be in Master Rep that I want to display in the .pvz I check the box for and parts that I do not want displayed in the .pvz I uncheck the box for.

The checkbox is a toggle for master or exclude only. Any other option other than master or exclude, you need to use the drop down

StephenW_0-1727465103205.png

First the user defined rep is on a part.

kdirth_0-1727098708044.png

When you pick a user define rep for a part the box is unchecked, but the part is shown in the desired rep.

Yes, the problem is that when saving the assembly out as a .pvz the parts that are not checked are excluded.  So while it looks fine in the creo assembly, I am unable to save it out properly for others.
