Hello All,
I am checking the carrying capacity of I section beam. I have applied 3000kg of load downwards divided equally into 8 bottom lugs. Two top lugs are tied to sling/rope leading towards a single point. I have created beams in creo simulate 7.0 to replicate the ropes using two end points - one on lug and one on top at a certain height..
see attached pictures for your reference
However after running simulation I am observing a high point load on lug where the beam starts. This seems to be something unusual. I believe the load should spread on the hole of lifting lug. Can you please advise if you have any suggestion to improve the definition of sling/rope in creo simulate? is there any better way to perform it? I would highly appreciate your help with it.

Hello @skunks
Great example. I am trying to replicate a similar study for which I set up my model like you have suggested above. However, there seems to be something that I am missing or not doing correct as I am seeing funny results. If you could please check my model to see if you can find any missing pieces?
Kind regards,
Yash
Hello,
I only have Creo Simulate Advanced up to Creo 3.0 M190.
I never use creo weld seams as a design feature in simulate...

Hello,
Any suggestions on the boundary conditions used in general? Could this simulation be better replicated with better boundary conditions you think?
Kind regards
I build FEM models from the design models.
For example, I merge five welded parts into one FEM part with replacement radii for weld seams, etc.
That makes sense for simplification but then how do you work out if there are multiple parts with different materials in one assembly? Would you use split body command or similar approach to select different instances within your one single FEM part?
I like to use volume regions.
Thanks for the example attached earlier. For this kind of approach, I think its best to start modelling everything as one single part. For rectifying some assemblies then, is there any way we could convert an assembled model with multiple parts converted as one single part now?
