Fatal error Creo 3.0 M060: When going to a sheet of a drawing and printing.

Hello,

I am getting a fatal error when I try and go to sheet 10 of 32 in a drawing.

All of the other sheets in this drawing will let me go to them.

I have attached the traceback.log file of when I went to sheet 10.

I am unable to go to sheet 10 so I can delete it.

I also am unable to print this file due to this error, It appears to crash when it gets to sheet 10.

I tried some of the solutions on the message boards and had no luck.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I found a work colleague who had this same issue with this drawing on his computer last week.

He too was running Creo 3.0 M060.

He was just upgraded to build M080 and this is no longer an issue.

He was able to print this out for me to complete my project. (whew)

I am hopeful that when I get upgraded to M080 that this will no longer be an issue for me.

To save the rest of us guessing what you tried that didn't work, could you include a list?

I found two different things to try.

I tried them one at a time.

I added the following to my config.pro:

enable_opengl_fbo no

and

graphics win32_gdi

Interestingly the "graphics win32_gdi" did allow sheet 10 to start to load, however it would not load all the way and ended up still crashing.

The win32_gdi setting turns off opengl so other opengl settings won't make a difference.

Has this drawing been opened on this computer?

Have any software changes been made recently?

What graphics card is being used?

Since there's guessing here - is this a complicated assembly with a lot of section views?

What I'm guessing is that one of the sections is being evaluated incorrectly and needs to be changed. If so, it could be as simple as moving the section a small amount. Since Creo performs numerical operations, if there is a condition that causes a failure in a calculation, the calculation will fail and then Creo will crash. Changing where a section is changes the calculation and sometimes avoids a crash.

If this was a drawing and assembly I inherited, I would start by creating a Drawing Program that suppressed all the views on the broken sheet, then change the program to unsuppress / or manually resume them one at a time to narrow the problem down. I don't have specific steps to create a drawing program because I haven't had a drawing sheet break this way. Once the view is narrowed down then the section can be identified.

Alternatives are:

Loading different versions of Creo - there may be a correction made to whatever evaluation is failing.

Send the entire package to PTC to examine and develop a fix in the software.

Perhaps there is some flaw in the data which is causing Creo to fail; send to PTC to find what is broken in the model.

Install a different version of driver software for the graphics card.

Install a different graphics card.

Try an earlier version of the drawing/model and update that to the represent the current version.

Suppress components of the assembly, which should allow the sheet to open, then resume components until it fails. Then examine any sections that pass through that component or any other special conditions that apply to that component.

Looked at the traceback, and was pleasantly surprised the the traceback-unstripping tool wasn't confused by the small changes caused by pasting it on a message board.  The problem occurs in the display of annotations, looks specifically like notes.  I'd recommend calling up Tech Support and saying 'I need this patched posthaste!'  If you just need to locate the problem data to excise it, you might try:

1) Retrieve the drawing, go to Tools > Drawing Representation, tell it to turn off all the views on sheet 10, see if you can get to sheet 10 now, and delete views, notes, or the entire sheet as needed to make it not crash.  Once it doesn't crash, rebuild these things.  [Side note, in a similar situation where it is the initial sheet, File>Open>[drawing]>Open rep>No Views]

2) With the programmatic APIs (Toolkit, J-link, etc.) you don't need to visit sheet 10 to interrogate stuff about it and delete things.

But you're probably better off getting it patched  than rebuilding the sheet, so I'd recommend the SPR route.

I found a work colleague who had this same issue with this drawing on his computer last week.

He too was running Creo 3.0 M060.

He was just upgraded to build M080 and this is no longer an issue.

He was able to print this out for me to complete my project. (whew)

I am hopeful that when I get upgraded to M080 that this will no longer be an issue for me.
