Mechanica Differences

This is sort of an ambiguous question that's being asked out of ignorance - would someone describe in simple terms the difference between Creo Simulate Basic (formerly Mechanica) and the Advanced package.

I have a brochure describing the two but unless you are familiar with the details of each, it's hard to understand the differences and I'm going to need to explain this to management.

Thanks,
-Ter

Here is mostly what you get with Advanced vs. Base:

  • Materials other than isotropic - transversely isotropic, orthotropic, hyperelastic, etc. Essential for modeling composites and nonlinear plastics.

  • Advanced idealizations: advanced springs, advanced masses, advanced shells

  • 2D model types for special situations (2D plane strain, 2D plane stress, 2D axisymmetric)

  • Large Deformation for Static analyses

  • Pre-stress Static and Modal

  • Dynamic analyses (time-dependent, frequency-dependent, random vibration, shock)

  • Transient thermal (time-dependent heat loads, convection conditions, and results)
