Pictures on part surfaces

Since I`ve got satisfying answers on my other question, here`s the next :). I`m known with Solidworks where u can import pictures and `stick` them op part surfaces etc. Is this also an option in Pro-E ? Because after a quick look around I couldn`t find a function for it. Jelmer

Jelmer, Go into View>Colors and Appearances. Make a new color, and in the tabs on the bottom go into Advanced (I think, I'm not at my workstation) and select Decal. You can then import, scale, and position a JPEG or bitmap or similar image. Apply the new color to the part surface. Regards

thnx Peter, I`ve got it so far that the picture is on the part. My only issue now is that the picture, after rendering the part, is still a bit scattered. It isn`t as sharp as I would want it to be. Is the problem the picture or Pro-E ? Jelmer

I would probably have to say it's ProE doing it if you've looked at the image in Gimp or some other editor and it looks fine there. Regards

I SEE,thank

Pro/E likes to scale the pictures to the size of the surface it is applying it to. So, it can come out weird sometimes. It might help if you edit the picture to be the exact size of the surface you want to put it on. If you want to put is in an exact spot on the surface you can create a sketch on the surface, then do an edit fill. You can now add the decal to that filled surface. This also allows you to dimension the decal on the drawing. One issue is that once the decal is placed Pro/E will have issues and will want to display the surface color behind it, since they are on the same plain. Adding the decal directly to the surface does not have this effect. I will try to put up some examples later.[/img]
