Summary: Why does PTC constantly "fix" ...

Thanks for the replies. While many said to set sketcher_auto_create_refs to 0, or 1 instead of 2, this did not fix my problem. However, while trying this I figured out a workaround. If I "skip" the sketch plane selection during the copy function, it will then let me pick the new sketch plane AND direction after I copy. This gets me to what I wanted.

The "Advanced placement option" on copy (Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V version of copy) also seems to work, but is more cumbersome as you have to select or check "keep reference" for every reference individually.
