Volume measure - if it is possible to get result of overall volume of interfered parts

Hi guys,

Im just wondering if it is possible to get result of overall volume of interfered parts. I have a really complicated assembly and measuring air volume in the closed housing. Some parts are fully in the housing but some are not. So instead of using multi body features I want to I know if there is another option to measure it.

Thanks

It is possible and does not require multi-body. In most cases it will require some modeling of volume geometry to get the result. There is no "button push" that will do this without additional work.

It is possible and not very difficult, if I understand your requirement. With your assembly open, select "Global Interference" from the "Analysis" tab and keep defaults and then press "Preview". If you have a large number of components it will take some time to conduct the analysis between all parts. The result will look similar to the image shared and list each pair of parts that Creo finds to be interfering, along with the volume of interference (I made the 1 inch diameter shaft larger than the hole I placed it in by 0.5 in):

You will need to add-up each line item for each pair of interfering parts Creo finds.

I hope this helps!

Wow! That looks really good. I will try that on Monday. I hope it will not last hours, I have 390 components.

If you have that many parts, you may wish to try a smaller sub-set to see how long it will take, or let it run during lunch or possibly overnight.

Good Luck!

The OP mentions an air volume inside an enclosed housing. @ChrisKaswer offers a clever approach to obtain the volume.  Based on your description I believe you will need to model the "air volume" as an assembly component in order to use this approach. You need to detect interference with the control volume (air) which must be modeled to be included in the interference check.
