family table->merge/inheritance->family table

We're having a discussion regarding the creation of a family-table model (casting), and then using the merge/inheritance function to create amodel (machined) which is modified with anotherfamily-table.

Therefore - one casting model (w/12 instances), one machining model (w/12 instances), 12 casting.drw's, 12machining.drw's.

Is this possible? Pro-E WF3 with AAX extension (nothing else). Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to permanently hide or delete the 'common name' column in
the family table?

I spoke to PTC concerning the same issue in Wildfire 4. Unfortunately there is no method currently available to remove that column. I would be interested if someone in the Pro/E world has been able to find a workaround.
