jack screw animations (summary)

"Does anyone have a easy way to animate a mechanism of a jack screw rising.
In other words, I would like to see a lead screw rotate with the "nut" rising
with the screws pitch."

Thanks to all that replied. The easiest method was from Neal who suggested
create a motor that rotates the same speed as the time it takes for the nut to
translate the distance. Create another motor that translates the nut. In his
words, "whalla" it worked.

Another interesting suggestion was from Mark who suggested a
point follower on a corkscrew curve. Have the nut connected with a cylinder
connection. I have not tried this yet, but maybe when I get a little free time (that's another story)

Thanks
Mark

If you create a datum curve (by equation) with the same pitch as your thread and then create a point on curve connection you can do this. Works like a charm! See this example.

Can you repeat the part after "Listen very carefully"?
