ALD: I would like to see more types of Cutting Guides.

ALD: I would like to see more types of Cutting Guides.

1. Describe your environment: What is your industry? What is your role in your organization? Describe your stakeholders.

Industry: Print company.
Organization: Programmer. ALD template developer.

2. What product and version are you currently running?

Arbortext Layout Developer.
Ver.12.1.1.0

3. Describe the problem you are trying to solve. Please include detailed documentation such as screenshots, images or video.
I would like to be able to output PDF (PS) with the following double cutting guide.
(CuttingGuideB4.pdf)

myamaguchi2_2-1647400222199.png

Registration marks are too close to the plate. Therefore, it cannot be used. I would be happy if this could be resolved together.
Generally, the distance from the plate surface is 3 mm or more.

4. What is the use case for your organization?

Most of the cutting guides used in Japan are double.

Registration marks are close to the plate, and if they are misaligned due to cutting, Registration marks will be printed on the printed matter.

5. What business value would your suggestion represent for your organization?

Output PDF in ALD is standardized.

Hello!

What if we allowed a user to specify an SVG to be used for the cutting guide and/or registration marks? Then they could output anything they like?

Hello Simon, Thank you for your comment.
Currently, the image of the cutting guide (EPS, PDF) is posted in the background (As an avoidance work).
The problem with this is that I need to prepare a cutting guide image for each page size. Preparing multiple images is difficult.
And another problem is that if I scaled up and down and print, the cutting guide will also be scaled up and down. I don't want the cutting guide to scale.

Can the idea of trying SVG solve this problem?

Hello!

Currently, ALD will draw our existing cutting guides according to the size and offset values provided by the user. These are just simple lines in a box. The SVG idea could be that the user specifies an SVG graphic for that box and ALD will take care of position and scaling. The idea might also extend to registration marks and colour bars and other bleed-area artefacts. From what you mention, then, the feature could be designed such that scaling when printing will have no effect on the size of the image being output.
For example, if the print options specify that the cutting guide size is 15mm, ALD will allocate a 15mm box at each corner of the page and draw the SVG in there, rotating it as necessary to get the correct orientation for the corner.

We could also implement some 'basic' versions too... Use the size, bleed size and offset to generate the double cutting guides and ensure the registration marks don't encroach into the bleed area?

Hello, Sorry for the late reply.

yes. I would appreciate it if you could do so.

In addition to the basic settings, I would be grateful if you could implement the SVG idea mentioned earlier as a customization.

Please add.

I would be happy if the position of the dragonfly could be specified together.

Currently, it is as follows.
