The maximum number of characters that you can specify is 15(31);
any additional characters would be ignored.

Hi

The limit is there to ensure performance is kept good - the information in 'callouts' is copied around quite a bit during formatting and increasing the limit would slow things down.

Why do you need more than the 31? (I'll ask Documentation to update the Help)...

Thanks

Hi

Is this a new idea?

Am I correct is thinking you're asking to change the text height when using pseudo fonts when switching fonts?

Yes

So, if we added a 'scale' option to the text height, would that be sufficient? Or would you want to change other properties. I'm afraid I can't read the Japanese dialog you show in your screenshot...

Thank you.
?tvs etc.
I also would like to change other properties.
Ideal to be able to do the following things.

Hi

Pseudofonts:

We will try to allow 'scaling' options for text height and text width and an option for baseline shift. Values are likely to be a percentage of the currently active value rather than an absolute value.

Callouts:

We are considering adding a feature to provide something similar to callouts, but with more flexibility. More details to come as we flesh out the details.

Hi Simon,

This is an additional idea.

Can you change it to use Glyph ID in pseudo fonts?

Example

OLD
   '*** Alphabet Italic ( A - Z ) Unicode***
   map 0x0041,0x005A,"RyuminPr6-Regular (OpenType)",0xE581

NEW
   '*** Alphabet Italic ( A - Z ) Glyph ID ***
   map 34,59,"RyuminPr6-Regular (OpenType)",9477

Hi

We are considering this for a future enhancement - but you will not be able to map one glyph to another, but simply a character to a specific glyph. So, if you want your A to appear using 9477 then you can. But you will not be able to map glyph 34 to 9477... I hope that's clear.

Hi Simon,

I am sorry if it is an irrelevant answer because I cannot understand the meaning of the question correctly.

I would like to do the following as a result when pseudo fonts is specified.

"Character" (Unicode, Glyph ID)

"A" (undefined, 9477) is displayed when typing "A" (0x0041, 34)
"B" (undefined, 9478) is displayed when typing "B" (0x0042, 35)
"C" (undefined, 9479) is displayed when typing "C" (0x0043, 36)
.
.
.
"Z" (undefined, 9502) is displayed when typing "Z" (0x005A, 59)

Yes - so we will have something like this in the pseudofont control stream:

mapglyph 0x0041, "FONTNAME", 9477

mapglyph 0x0042, 0x0050 "FONTNAME", 9478

...

where the parameters are:

Initial character

End of range character (if this is missing, only one character will be replaced)

Font name

Glyph ID (or if there's a range of characters, the starting ID for the glyph range)

Thank you very much.
I do not have any problem by the following contents.

mapglyph 0x0041, "FONTNAME", 9477

mapglyph 0x0042, 0x0050, "FONTNAME", 9478

Hi

I'm happy to announce that 12.1.0.0 now provides the ability to scale pseudo-font subfonts (vertically and horizontally) as well as map a character to a glyph position.

By the way - we're thinking of providing a FOM version of the 'hash callouts' feature in ALD...
