Getting RDS (Resolve document for Styling) back from HTTP/Webservices (f=convert)

Getting RDS (Resolve document for Styling) back from HTTP/Webservices (f=convert)

Hi,

We can generate RDS file from Arbortext Editor and send this document to PE for publishing (EDIT ->> Resolve Document --> For Styling). But we cannot do the same using HTTP/Webservies call from Windchill (Please refer case id 11825786 for more details). As per our understanding we can get "flatted document" & "PDF document" by specifying 'type' attribute in java call. But we need option to recieve RDS file back.

For Ex.

http://mapwcpubn02:8080/e3/servlet/e3?f=convert&flatten-entities=yes&type=xml&file-type=zip&input-en...

The requirement is, we want to do baseline all the referred objects in MAP/Bookmap, so even these referred object get changed later we can publish the same PDF any point of time by storing RDS file in windchill ( which can be used for publishing later).

So please add RDS option to f=convert, so we can get RDS back as zip from java call to PE.

Thanks,

Pankaj Lanke

Hi,

It may be possible to do this using f=acl. The RDS file is generated by ACL code that ships with PE. With PE, it is possible to send a command to run this ACL file and have PE return the resulting document.

Hi Pankaj,

I don't know if this can be used for HTTP/Webservices from Windchill, but perhaps this technique might be useful in your publishing with APE. I came across this and thought of your note.
