DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
Allow table row sorting by the values of at least three columns in that table. Allow ascending or descending sorting. Require user-specified hierarchy whenever more than one sort column is selected. Enable the ability to apply a sort order to all tables in a document or to a user selected list of tables via a simple user interface. Enable error catching and consistent treatment of any tables that do not match the requested sort order.

BUSINESS IMPACT:
Virtually every technical document produced by Caterpillar contains table data. Many of these documents are predominantly table-driven. The table content often comes from external databases and does not import in the desired sort order. Today it is a manual task to reorder tables, which must be repeated every revision.
The requested enhancement would provide a significant efficiency gain for authors. An assessment of actual financial impact can be provided and would show a signficant payback for Cat. I have not included that analysis here pending further feedback from PTC on this request.
Options:
Use ACL and XUI to customize a solution. Undesireable due to TCO and complexity/risk/upgrade concersns.
Manual editing (this is the current practice).
