Increase length of filenames shown in Arbortext Editor Quick Launch Menu

Increase length of filenames shown in Arbortext Editor Quick Launch Menu

Its difficult to discern data modules with similar data module codes in the Quick Launch menu of Arbortext Editor. This makes it hard for S1000D authors to open data modules in Windchill Service Information Manager.

The steps to reproduce the issue are:

1. Install S1000D application in Arbortext Editor 6.1 M060.
2. Configure the Windchill adapter to connect to Windchill 10.2 M032 Service Information Manager S1000D module.
3. Create a new data module in Service Information Manager as product manager, allocate it to an author, and then releasethe data module for authoring.
4. Launch Arbortext Editor and authenticate to Service Information Manager as the author.
5. Open the data module from the Browser or S1000D Tasks window.
6. Close the data module.
7. Attempt to open the data module from the Quick Launch menu in Arbortext Editor (i.e., Select File > DMC-A123-A-01-00-00-01002-010).

The data module code is truncated in the Quick Launch menu. It should be DMC-A123-A-01-00-00-01002-010A-A.

This is problematic for users that want to open data modules from the Quick Launch menu that have similar data module codes.

NOTE - This issue happens with data modules that are Dynamic Documents in Windchill.

Please reference case 12738510.

This is not just an issue for S1000D installations. Because Arbortext tends to shorten paths by replacing chunks of them with "..." to make them fit, it is also a problem when you have files with similar names but in different locations. For example, if you have many documents where each document has its own directory, but they all follow the naming convention "chapter1.xml", "chapter2.xml", etc., you can end up with a menu that looks something like this:

C:\...\chapter1.xml

C:\...\chapter1.xml

C:\...\chapter1.xml

with no easy way to disambiguate which chapter1.xml belongs to which document.

Allowing a wider menu with longer filenames would go a long way toward alleviating this problem as well.
