Interactive PDF from Styler

Interactive PDF from Styler

Could we please implement Interactive PDF output from Styler.

This would allow functionality wherein one can link from intelligent graphics to elsewhere in/outside the current document, then this linking becomes live in the published PDF. Currently this functionality is only available for HTML with Internet Explorer.

So, if a person has an intelligent graphic with hotspots or callouts, one cannot in the published PDF, click on a callout and be linked to another part of the document or outside of the document.

Hi

We have a plan to allow U3D to be embedded within PDF and also to allow linkiing between content and the U3D object. U3D is an output from Creo Illustrate.
Can you tell me more about what kind of interactivity you want to see? Give me some use cases to help me create better requirements for our R&D team.

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon

Thank you for your prompt response.

I refer to the attached image for my illustration on use cases - where possible we would like:

1. Please refer to area encircled BLUE - when you click on text elsewhere, the link zooms in on this particular part of the illustration. I understand for PDF this may be too ambitious - but could be handled in a similar manner as with HTML through 'intelligent graphic sets'?

2. Please refer to the area encircled RED - when you click on the number/callout, you are then linked to another part of the document or outside the document. This is an immediate functionality that could bring about exciting changes for our clients who would like to go fully Online and Interactive, BUT do not have the resources as yet to get there - this functionality may provide some motivation on getting there. Also, these clients are already beginning to put Web PDFs in place

3. Please refer to the area encircled GREEN - this is similar to the point above, only difference is clicking on the actual part as opposed to the callout

So, if I understand you correctly, the U3D functionality would allow for one way 'dynamic' linking? It would be great to have the two-way linking, at least incorporating the second point above, especially since this functionality is available from IsoDraw i.e. if one publishes a PDF from IsoDraw that has callouts which link elsewhere, these links work in the PDF.

Hoping I have provided sufficient info.

Thanking you

Hello

Have you seen the examples provided in APP 11.2? The difficulty with using Styler to do this is that this requires quite a lot of JavaScript code to interrogate the graphic and interact with the page objects.

Styler 8.1 now supports use of audio (MP3), video (MP4) and U3D as objects when creating PDF output.
