Related links should work like xrefs when using PreviewText.
Currently, Arbortext inserts erroneous <linktext> elements when using PreviewText or updating references in related links, which makes no sense as <linktext> is used to override default titles during DITA builds. But as the linktext wraps a non-printing element (PreviewText), DITA builds will not be able to pull the title text and will instead insert an empty string from linktext that will not appear in an HTML build output.
The end result is empty related links, a critical loss of functionality in the publication chain. This is clearly an error condition and OT logs indicate that the linktext "value" is missing.
Information Developers must manually delete the linktext elements when creating new related links, but every time they re-run update references, Arbortext will reinsert the linktext elements, resulting in loss of information in the build if not corrected. This is a major usability problem in the editor, resulting in dramatic dissatisfaction versus the legacy oXygen editor used formerly in acquisitions.
I have entered an SR and was told the product works as designed and I should enter an enhancement request.
We will investigate ways to fix this problem, but it seems that it should be fixed in the product rather than requiring the valuable use of our time and expense to create a customization when we could be working on other critical priorities.
