Support publishing XMP Metadata to PDF from Editor/Publishing Engine

Support publishing XMP Metadata to PDF from Editor/Publishing Engine

Hi,

We would like the ability to author copyright information in our XML and use Styler and FOSI stylesheets to publish it in our PDF output using XMP metadata and the FOSI composition engine. This should be comparable to our current ability to author PDF Document Information (docinfo) properties like Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords.

Specifically, we would like the ability to populate the following XMP metadata fields:

   Copyright Status

   Copyright Notice

   Copyright Info URL

These properties/metadata are featured on the dialog displayed by File > Properties > Description tab > Additional Metatdata button within Adobe Reader X. This is an example of that dialog showing those fields:

http://wiki.creativecommons.org/images/0/0e/CC-acrobat-templates.png

Taken from this site describing one process for applying XMP metadata:

http://wiki.creativecommons.org/XMP_help_for_Adobe_applications

Here is a reference page on XMP from PDFlib, your source of the non-Adobe Distiller PDF-producing code (as I understand it):

http://www.pdflib.com/knowledge-base/xmp-metadata/

See also case C12106312 in which I asked support whether this was possible or not and learned that the XMP based Copyright fields are not currently authorable as are the docinfo properties.

Hi Paul

I know this isn't FOSI, but in the M050 release of APP (and by extension Styler) we will support custom XMP metadata. You'll be able to specify an external XMP file to act as the basis of the XMP which gets embedded in your PDFs which APP will generate from your content. Any document-specific metadata will be included and merged with the custom metadata.

As Simon indicated, this was implemented with the M050 release.
