Table "modify borders" function should be able to use CSS in style attribute instead of PI.

Table "modify borders" function should be able to use CSS in style attribute instead of PI.

The "Modify borders" function in table menu used with XHTML tables is working great. It basically inserts PIs in cells to control the appearance of borders. However, those PIs are not standard. This suggestion is to use the CSS standard to define XHTML table, row and cell borders. The CSS instructions can be inserted in the @style attributes of the elements. This could also be an option in the preferences, just like the "diffencltype" option is used to control how the compare marks are added.

Table attributes have always been a problem with traditional FOSI publishing.

The good news is that with the APP-based publisher that now ships as standard, you have the capability to define your own attributes for tables.

I agree that XHTML standard attributes should be used by default in the future, instead of PIs.
