Dear  all, Lets assume the following process : - I have to modify an EPMDocument in Windchill, but this document is at Validated (or more) state - Before revising the document, I open it in Arbortext, in order to check the content - My company disallow to use the "Revise" action from Windchill (in order to simplify the adoption, the lifecycle should be only processed on Windchill side) - To revise my document, I close the EPMDocument opened in Arbortext, go back to Windchill and then revise the document At this point, if I try to open the EPMDocument, the following dialog pop : All what I can do is: - Cancel my action (document is not opened) - Open the out of date document (Windchill' ACL does not allow me to check-out it) The proposed enhancement is to add a 3rd action (and modify the actual message) : - Update and open document (in order to recover the last version-iteration of my document, and not something taken from an out-of-date workspace) Actually, the only way to get my updated document is : - Open the out of date document - Perform an "File > Update Document" This is not really user-friendly (and does not work if the user uses the "File > Recently accessed" shortcuts, or lets his document opened in Arbortext during the Windchill side Revision). Could we please implement Interactive PDF output from Styler. This would allow functionality wherein one can link from intelligent graphics to elsewhere in/outside the current document, then this linking becomes live in the published PDF. Currently this functionality is only available for HTML with Internet Explorer. So, if a person has an intelligent graphic with hotspots or callouts, one cannot in the published PDF, click on a callout and be linked to another part of the document or outside of the document. ... The Arbortext connection to Windchill does not handle current standards. While nearly ALL other PTC products connect to Windchill via a Workgroup Manager or in the case of Creo Parametric through a more embedded browser. Arbortext does not handle authentication with Active directory. Over the past weekend we moved our Windchill servers from Apache to ISS to support single sign (SSO) on and SSL for https:.Arbortext cannot be configured to deal with this. My only option now is to essentially export all our Dynamic Documents out of Windchill to a file server and manage it old school. This is a struggle since for our company at least since one of the top 3 reasons for using Arbortext was it's connection to Windchill. We desperately need Arbortext to be treated with the same level of importance as all the other PTC apps that connect to Windchill. ... View more

We're on a custom DTD, meaning we can't use the resource manager. We have to use the Object > Browse feature. The usability and the integration with Windchill is currenlty very limited. Some suggestions: Grey out buttons that aren't allowed by Windchill. Released content can't be checked-out for instance. This isn't clear in this interface. The button is still clickable. Add columns to this view, e.g. version, lifecyle state, check-in status, ... Filters: e.g. per object type, state, featured in workspace, ...   In general, I would expect a better view of the local/serverside workspace. The embedded browser from Creo isn't the best solution, but it's better than this browser. ... View more

We have a client who publishes documents that have up to 15 000+ unique IDs per publication. The challenge is, once all these IDs are defined, when one wishes to modify the attributes of any element, Editor takes about 20 seconds to open the Modify Attributes dialog box. PTC Support have confirmed that: "As it opens the panel, Editor is looking up all possible values for idref and places them in a combo box so the user can select a new value for the attribute. Since there are so many values, it takes a lot of time to capture all the values. Editor is doing the correct thing here. It just takes a long time to capture all the values and it is not possible to make it any quicker." So, with this way that Editor handles the IDs, our request is that perhaps Editor should keep all IDs in a cache such that it does not have to build the 'combo box' every time, this way the response time should be improved. It would be a great step forward for working with APP to have a better or maybe full support of Fonts as TTF or OTF. Characters beyond FF00, Class Kerning, Anchors, cmap etc. are coming with the new versions of fonts from the different foundries. These new fonts have to be used for more and more jobs, but the integrated features within these fonts are not accessable with APP. (With InDesign and others they are.) Therefore a (full) support of TTF and OTF is a Product Idea I would like to suggest. The use of Hebrew and Arabic would be much easier and finally possible straight out of the (black) box. Hi DITA or S1000D authors/writers,   After working with some information architects, there is a need for an additional XML tab in the information page of EPMDocuments for Dynamic Documents. Depending on the type of Dynamic document (just like an CAD assembly or component), a Windchill browser based additional XML tab form editor for Dynamic Documents will have the ability to create a map or content modular XML component topic.  Thus, simple authors just need to enter their information via a web page form and not via complicated Arbortext or Oxygen UIs.  Most of information authors do not need to update the formats, styles, but just need a form to enter the text information.  Formats and styles for publishing the information are designed/controlled by the limited technical writers who should use Arbortext Styler or Oxygen.  But the large group of information authors just need a web based form to enter and update their structure or modular content topics.  The EPMDocument information page is excellent to the information modular XML topic author.  The information page will instantly show all the relationships plus additional custom reports of changes and history.  This centralization of information provides an instant dashboard to the content topic author.  Having so many complicated separate authoring tools windows confuses the standard author of information. ... Users would like a configuration option to limit the size of files (specifically graphics) that get uploaded to the content management system. The content that is ultimately published gets downloaded to mobile devices for viewing and the business is trying to find ways to reduce the footprint of that content. They are trying to enforce the above via author training but also wanted to know if the system had a way to enforce it. The use of mobile devices for viewing downloaded content is a key business initiative and therefore the need to reduce footprint is an important one. ... View more

When using a custom DTD and opening text content in Arbortext from Windchill SIM on Publication Section level it results in the runtime wrapper object RDEWrappar around the elements in Arbortext. After upgrade from Arbortext 6.1 to 7.0 has the handling  of attributes become better when opening documents  in this RDEWrapper mode In 6.1 it was not possible to update attribute values at all when opening in RDEWrapper mode In 7.0 it is possible to update instantiated attribute values in RDEWrapper mode Wish: That it should be possible to update all attributes defined in the DTD when opening All Topics (with the RDEWrapper around) See attached power point for more details about the desired end result ... Windchill has a type manager that allows creating attributes for specific types. The Dynamic Document type, which is the default type used for Arbortext-created content supports adding Global, Alias, and Calculated attributes. However, only Global attributes are seen by Arbortext: any alias attribute added to the Dynamic Document type is not available in Arbortext in the Object Properties window. My use case would be to add alias attributes to Dynamic Document and view them in the Object Properties window in Arbortext Editor, or use them in bursting rules: <dmsmetadata> <twowaymetadatarule attrname="role" bndryelemname="book" metadata="alx.fpc" metadataelemname="book" mode="toxml"/> </dmsmetadata> Bottom line, I think it is valuable to be able to access an attribute of an object related to a dynamic document, make it appear as alias attributes of the dynamic document, and view its value in the Object Properties window or use it during bursting to put its value in the xml content. We'd like to see the compare functionality from Arbortext Editor to be extended, so that two versions/iterations from an XML dynamic document in Windchill (Service Information Manager) can be compared. In the generated text in Styler I would like to use a graphic file, which is stored in the Windchill (Arbortext Content Manager) Library. This method (the change "pathname" attribute to the graphics logical ID from Windchill)  described in the document CS79314 (https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS79314) works only in the Gentext window (see Add Before picture) but not in the PDF or WEB output.
