Currently, Arbortext does not support two-way metadata rules for graphics. This can have some negative effects with the reuse of graphics if there are XML attributes / data that are tied to a Windchill graphic object.
For instance if the following XML is used as part of the create process in Windchill and the @image_type attribute is stored as an attribute on the graphic:
<image href=".\images\testimg1.jpg" image_type="Photo" />
Then the next time that graphic is reused from Windchill the XML will not update the @image_type attribute in the XML. A user could then inadvertently change the attribute to be a different value than what is contained in its parent XML image element for the first XML instance.
By allowing support for two-way metadata for graphics, there is greater data integrity and saves Arbortext users from re-entering attributes already tagged in the system.
