ACL and Java

Lemme rephrase my last question:

I'm developing a Java App that will supply tags to a document being edited
in Epic. I need to pass tags into the document from my app.

But I can't call my app from Epic each time with a java_type(function,runit)
call...i don't want epic to invoke its own JVM...

I was able to do this in C++ using DDE... I was wondering if there was
anyway you could do the same in Java?

Thanks!

Sundhar,

I'm not a java kinda guy, but I offer this in case it helps:

If you don't want to use Epic's JVM for communication, you might
consider using Epic's TCP/IP socket support--see the topic in the
help system:
Arbortext Command Language (ACL)
Functions, Callbacks, and Hooks
Channel Functions

Also (I may be showing my ignorance here) can a Java program be
registered as a COM object? If so you could use ACL's COM calls.
