Eric,

I think you have to use the "read" command (see help 9027), like so:

read -untaggedascii -encoding 'EUC-JP' 'toire-wa-doko-desu-ka.txt'

Nice way of asking 'where is the bathroom?' in a post, although I'm not
sure I'd like to see the contents of the file! 🙂
