Arbortext CSDB support for S1000D
Hi
I spent some time to figure out what is this as I am new to this product. Will "PTC Text Creation A&D Package" be enough? The installation guide shows steps to link to an Oracle database. So is this a full package containing Arbortext Editor and CSDB capabilities?
Or need additionally PTC Windchill Service Information Manager - S1000D Module also to be deployed?
Thanks for your valuable replies.

The Arbortext S1000D software is being sunset, as I understand it. That software was previously known as LBS, and was acquired by PTC. The current (and more advanced) solution for S1000D is based on Windchill. Please refer to the PTC site here: https://www.ptc.com/en/service-lifecycle-management/aerospace-and-defense
You can see the current range of products that work together for S1000D here: https://www.ptc.com/en/service-lifecycle-management/aerospace-and-defense/service-and-parts-information
The base solution essentially consists of:
- Windchill SIM (Service Information Manager - management of service data)
- Add-on S1000D Module for Windchill SIM
- Arbortext Editor (for S1000D data module creation/editing)
- Arbortext Publishing Engine (to publish to PDF/HTML)
- ISODRAW and/or Creo Illustrate (2D/3D illustrations)

Gareth, thx so much for your reply. The tools you listed are what I have procured along with Arbortext Styler. My initial question requested information on what back end database vendors could be used for the CSDB i.e. Oracle, MS SQL, etc..
Thx, John

If you are referring to the Windchill CSDB then either Oracle or MS SQL Server are supported. If you're referring to the older Arbortext CSDB, then I'm afraid I don't know.
