Bold Text on Screen and Print

Hi Adepters:

I have an issue with bold text which I thought I came across before and resolved but apparently not or I can’t remember how.

Here is the issue: the text in PDF document looks bold on screen, however, whenever it is printed the texts are not bold. Does anyone know what could be the possibly cause this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,
Horace Burke

I know that table rules (and other graphic lines) in PDFs often appear to be
different weights but print fine. This is just a PDF display issue. But
seeing bold text in PDF but not in print makes me think PDF / printer /
fonts issue.

What happens if you print to different printers?

What happens if other people view and print the PDF?

What happens if you Print Preview? Do you see the bold there, too? Can you
print from Print Preview? I forget. If so, how does that print.

If there *is* a problem in the stylesheet somewhere, it may be that the
stylesheet is calling for a specific font that isn't supported.

Thanks Paul! It's the fonts. I was using Arial Unicode MS and for some reason it doesn't take bold. Horace

Is that true for all printers? Perhaps the printer you are using does
not have that particular font. If you are using Print Composer, what
happens if you Print-Composed directly to this printer, instead of using
Acrobat Distiller as your printer?
