Currently Arbortext and ACM fail to update the dependent topics contained in a DITA map or DITA bookmap to the latest version in the content management system if other users have updated a dependent topic since the last time the current user has opened that topic themself. This seems to be a failure to adhere to at least the spirit of DITA, if not an full-fledged failure to support the standard.
Users should be able to open a DITA bookmap and select File > Update Object and have an open to have all dependent objects updated, as well.
You know... if when tech support, after three months of walking us through a lot of solutions that don't work and then telling us to go file an enhancement request would, in that message send us a link to some instructions that say:
1. Choose the community that represents your product.
2. Go into the Discussions for the community that represents your product.
3. Click Create an Idea
4. Submit your enhancement request.
This would be a lot less frustrating for all involved.
