Epic windows opening behind active window

Howdy,

I have not come across a way to cause this to happen but somehow I have one user who, when she opens a new document in Epic, that new document will open in a window which comes up behind the active window rather than opening in front of the active window. I don't think it has anything to do with the tools we have created because only this one user is seeing this behaviour. However, it does happen consistantly for that user. Does anyone know of a setting in Epic that would be causing this?

Have you checked her epic.wcf or
epicprefs.acl file? Ed - Thanks. Could you double check those file names? I was not able to locate any such files in my Arbortext --> Epic folder. I even did a search for *.acl and (though there were quite a few .acl files) couldn't find something such as you mentioned.

Those files can be in your C:\Documents and Settings\<user name="> directory too.

epicprefs.acl is for Editor 4.3.1 and earlier. Epic.wcf is for later versions, 5.2 in particular. I'm not sure exactly when after 4.3.1 that the WCF file replaced the ACL file.
A normal installation places one or the other of them in your Windows home directory, wherever that may be.

Most of the time it is in Documents and Settings\[your name], although your IT department may have set it up to be somewhere else.

Ok, I located and inspected the epic.wcf file. There was nothing in it that suggested any relation to windows opening in any order. I suppose the epicprefs file is just the repository for the Advanced Preferences dialog within Epic. I have gone through that and also found no obvious setting that might relate to this issue. I am beginning to suspect it maybe a Windows/Explorer problem.

How's about you just rename the wcf file so a new one is created for the user on startup?
