'Formatter Messages' list

Good Morning Adepters (it is morning, here), 🙂

Does anyone know where we can find a list of the 'numbered' warning messages that appear in the 'Arbortext Editor Formatter Messages' window? Example: [A12622] Warning: A horizontal graphic overset fault occurred. The graphic is too wide by 25.44pt.

It's not that we lack understanding of the above message, but that there can be a large number of such in a book of 1800+ pages. We need to know the 'number' for specific types of messages, to allow reliably searching that window for those types.

Thanks for any help,
Steve Thompson

Hi Steve,

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but I believe you
want to search for "ams", "amsgfmt", "amsgconv", and "amo" in the Help
index. You'll learn more about some ACL functions that can be used to
convert existing message files to other formats, retrieve message IDs, and
messages. Beyond that, you may need to contact technical support.

It appears as if the messages are stored in messages.amo, a binary file
inside [editor-path]/lib. If you work with additional locales, there are
message files for other languages in the [editor-path]/lib/locale folder.

One or more Adepters may have commented on this subject at one time or
another as well. There might be something in the archives on messages.amo.

Happy Friday (it's still Friday here),
Jason

Steve,
Jason is right on the AMO and AMS files. How they work with the internal operation, I haven't really dug into. You can see the message (along with the number), but they tend to be even more cryptic than the message displayed. There are numerous variables used in the AMO error messages. No further explaination to help understand the cause.
I once tried to follow the error number (thinking it might be an ID of some kind) back through and that was a dead end.
Good luck and if you find anything useful, let us know. 😄
