ISODraw requires internet connectivity

ISODraw requires internet connectivity

While attempting to start ISODraw, an error is generated, "License request failed for feature ISODraw". This error occurs when the PC is not connected to any network. Once connected to a network, ISODraw successfully starts. The license that is used is a node lock license.

Is there any method to have ISODraw start when not connected to a network? Connectivity is an issue when at sea for the Navy. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Lisa,

Try to contact with PTC's technical support by using this link: https://support.ptc.com/apps/case_logger_viewer/auth/ssl/log

Does you have PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE environment variable point to a license server on a remote machine, or does it point to a file on your local machine?

Hi Tim,

The environment variable points to a location on the local hard drive. It is a node lock license.

Hi Lisa,

I think the most probable cause is that your license is bound to a Wifi mac address instead of a ethernet one.

Since these are unavailable when not connected to a network the mac address will also be unavailable and the licence request will fail.

Manar

Great info Manar. Looks like this is covered in an article in our knowledge base:

Try out that solution Lisa, and let us know if it works when off the network.

Rafael,

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, when attempting to access that document, an error is generated:

ERROR: Document 38934 is not in customer viewable as it is an internal PTC document.

Can you send me the narrative of this Case?

Lisa

Description:

  • IsoDraw does not acquire locked license at startup if laptop is not connected to the network
  • IsoDraw locked license is correct because IsoDraw starts as expected when laptop is physically connected to the network.
  • Startup is not successfull if laptop has been started while being disconnected from the network, whatever if WFI is enabled or not
  • If laptop is connected to the network at startup and then disconnected, isoDraw starts, whatever if WIFI is enabled or not
  • When issue occurs, error given is : "License request failed for feature IsoDraw"

Resolution:

  • Open Control Panel and access "Device manager"
  • Expand "Network adpaters"
  • Identify the ethernet network card (not the WIFI one)
  • you may have also another entry mentionning "xxx - Mistral Nomade NG Driver" (where xxx is the ethernet network card)
  • If a red cross is shown in front of the entries, this means that network card is disabled (due to the fact that no physical connection was present at station startup)
  • Right click on the ethernet card line and select "enable"
  • If you have also another line linked to this ethernet card, right click on this one as well and select "enable"
  • This will allow successfull IsoDraw startup, even when laptop is launched while being disconnected from the network
  • Launching of Arbortext Isodraw via Remote Desktop connections is not supported by PTC
