Iso-lat1 and iso-lat2 problems

Newbie

Iso-lat1 and iso-lat2 problems

Dear Adepters,

I've got a problem compiling a dtd so adept will know the entities from iso-lat1 and iso-lat2.
I've checked the folowing
- the public identifires.
- catalog path (APTCATPATH)
- the catalog path shown in adept (Preferences current settings)
- when I compile i use dtgen -doctype "doctype name" "File name" -pt

I'm lost. What am i doing wrong or what did i not see.
With a lot of hassel it seems to compile good sometimes.

Re: Iso-lat1 and iso-lat2 problems

Patrick,

Are you getting an error during the compile or are the entities not working
right when you try to put them in a document?

There are a couple of different things to check depending on what your
problem is.

Re: Iso-lat1 and iso-lat2 problems

Patrick,

I did a quick search in the online help for dtgen and didn't find it. I
compile doctypes using compile_doctype on the Adept command line. I've
successfully compiled many DTDs using this technique.

Do you have other DTDs that use iso-lat1 and iso-lat2? Some doctypes use
different extensions for the ISO entity files. I've seen .gml and .ent,
among others. Make sure the file (and path) names in your catalog point to
the correct files.

If these suggestions don't work (or you've already tried them), let me know
and I'll try to help further.

Cheers,

Gershon

Gershon brings up another good point for Patrick. What version of Adept?
The compile_doctype is new for Adept 8. Dtgen was (and still is) capable of
compiling the DTD.

Re: Iso-lat1 and iso-lat2 problems

Adepters,

I think i've solved my problem.
The thing i did was to move the Public Identifiers
iso-lat1 iso-lat 2 to the top of the catalog file.
Now adept can resolve the entities.

I assume that adept stops looking for pi when there is a
fault in the catalog file.

Tanks

Re: Iso-lat1 and iso-lat2 problems

The catalog will read the first occurrence of a public identifier that it
finds. If the path to the first occurrence is not the one you want or
doesn't exist, then you will get errors. Glad that you have it working.
