Isodraw license

Folks:

PTC's technical support did not or could not help me. So... I am asking the
smarter bunch here.

Installing IsoDraw, a license file is required during install process, and
this is not acceptable. My IT is starting to install all software by
pushing it out as a SMI package, I am requesting software to be made into
SMI packages.

But, IsoDraw installer runs and hangs waiting for a license file, you
cannot cancel it without killing the install.

Arbortext Editor installs without prompting for a license, but PTC's Tech
Support seemed confused on how to have a request made to engineering to
change IsoDraw to match AE

So, does anyone know how to satisfy the dialogue box and allow the install
to continue, can a bogus file be used. Then the IsoDraw can complain at
first use and the valid license used. The licensing has to happen after the
install not during. Often these packages are sent out at night.

Any help please...

You can try using a old license file (one that doesn't match the current
install and see if it chokes. My guess is that it will.

Skip the support line and just open up a feature request directly - forget
where that is on the site, but it is different than going through support
and you can write it up directly.

Your problem is coming from how Itedeo setup their install vs Arbortext
and now PTC.

Thanks Danny:

ID started with FLEX and it was added to AE, and AE does it nicely, so I
figured that code could easily be adapted to ID. PTC has owned ID for a few
years now, go the code base should be starting to look like PTC's and not
Itedo's.

yep, agreed but from their point, why fix what ain't broke 😉

Is there a Environmental Variable to relocate the license. In our new IT
environment, we "mortals" are not allow to write in the C:\Program Files,
but by default the license needs to be place inside there. I do not want to
open a ticket with IT to install a license.

I'm not an IsoDraw user, so take this for what it's worth, but I think
IsoDraw should, like all Flex-licensed PTC products, consult the
PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE environment variable to locate its license
file/server.

Here you go: https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/misc/PTC_Enhancement_Process.jsp

These get reviewed by the relevant Product Manager, some make it in some don't...
