MarkIt parser

When opening a file in our project the following error is returned:

[A11852] Unrecoverable error return from MarkIt parser

This error is occurring on two machines, out of many, for a single file
only.

WAG alert.

Isn't (or wasn't) MarkIt an Arbortext partner that supplied electronic XML
review capabilities (projecting XML to HTML and returning the comments)? Is
it possible that the file contains MarkIt markup and these users have enough
of the MarkIt environment to recognize it but not enough to handle it
properly?

I believe the MarkIt parser is the parser used when you have a compiled
doctype. This parser isn't required anymore, as there is now a real-time
XML parser.

However, for DTDs with the following declaration, the MarkIt parser is
used:

There's something on this in the Help docs somewhere.

I can't say why the error would be happening on only two machines unless
the install didn't go so well. If that was the case, you'd think there
would be an issue with more than one file.

I can't imagine how a "MarkIt environment" became a part of this
project. It is certainly nothing that we have intentionally introduced.
The error message can be seen in the following screen shot. A Google
search has revealed that it may be an SGML parser. Our project is a
MIL-Std 2361C xml implementation, we use Epic version 5.1. This
particular file has been maintained for about a year now and can be
opened on other workstations without issue. Yesterday two of our
writers began seeing this on their workstations.

Dave,

If you want, fire me a copy of the file and I'll see what happens here. As others have said, Markit is the SGML parser used by Epic.

You may want to check the environment of the two machines to see if there is anything out of sync with the remainder of your systems.

I really can't think of anything that would cause this, but like my old Murphy's Law calendar once said. "To err is human, to really foul things up requires a computer."
