On these file we get the following error the memory is full. attached is a jpg with a screen cap of the error. System config XP Pro, 2GB of ram, Dell core2 duo what is the soulution At the moment we are letting the O/S handle the virtual memory. does the application work better with a defined virtual memory space?

I thought there was a fix for this.....increasing the virtual memory to 4gb?

Hi Cleo, the file size IsoDraw deals with is the total size in memory. Due to references in the IGES file it can happen that the consumed memory for that data grows substantially. You can check into it by monitoring the RAM with the task manager. The tweak Dan mentioned demands 4 GB RAM, I see that you installed 2 GB so far. Usually the available RAM is shared by the application data and the operating system. When having 4GB installed, Windows may take 2 GB of it. The mentioned tweak allows the applications to consume up to 3 GB of the 4GB however. You find more details about it by searching the internet for "Windows /3GB Switch", but as I said, it demands 4 GB of RAM being installed. regards, Christian

What kind of references are you referring to? Is there a way of reducing/eliminate those?

Maria, references in IGES files could be e.g. bolts. If the assembly has 1000 bolts, there is probably only one defined as geometry and then used as a reference to the other 999 locations. These 999 bolts consume additional space in the memory. This is a general challenge, I do not see a way around this. regards, Christian
