Hello Susan,

Styler/APP Tips and Tricks is interesting, but I fear many people need
some more
basic information before beeing able to understand the Tips and Tricks

Information I think that is necessary/helpful:

- Architectural overview of Styler/APP
- What is Styler?
- What is APP?

- Functional overview of Styler/APP
- Features of Styler
- Features of APP
- How do they interact?

- How to organize Styler style sheets and JavaScript programs
What kind of layout features have to be implemented in Styler
What of layout features have to be implemented in APP JavaScript programs

- How to work with the documentation of Styler

- How to implement layout for e. g. a DITA Task using Styler and APP
(To big for a webcast, but very helpful for self-training)
- Basic Paragraph formating (font, linefeed, first, left and right, ... )
- Numbering in Titles and Lists ()
- Control of paragraph spacing
- Layout of graphics and legends
- Layout of tables
- Page layout — Proposal:
- margin column right used for numbering and Key words (20 % with gap)
options how to align text vertically
- text column 40 % (main text flow)
- margin column left used for graphics 40 %
used only for graphics so they are located side by side to the text
options how to align text and graphic vertically
- advanced feature — two modes for text column:
1. 40 % text and 40 % graphic
2. 80 % text
- using page headers and page footers
- right and left page handling
- Page break control
- Force breaks
- Use Keeps to build blocks
...

Kind regards from the shores of Lake Constance

Hi Juergen—

You are no doubt right that there are people who wouldn’t be ready for a Styler Tips and Tricks presentation, but that’s no argument against doing such a presentation. There are many users who *are* ready for it, and who can make immediate use of that kind of advice.

For those you describe, who haven’t used Styler before and maybe aren’t even sure what it is or how it works, there are training courses offered by PTC and third party partners. PTC also offers free online tutorials on specific topics (some of which are items from your wish list below).

Info on training options from PTC is at
