Publishing information from a database -Reply

Dave,
I have not done this my self but I saw a panel on this at SGML '97 that
was held last year. The core idea was to have SQL calls built in to the
DTD at some point (I don't recall where at the moment) and at publication
time the SQL calls get the data from the database and wrap SGML tags
around it to generate tables.
If you need more information I can look in the proceeds and see if I can
extract that paper for you.
Hope that helps.

Hi all,

I am involved in converting technical manuals from Interleaf to SGML.
The intent eventually is to publish the data using a FOSI. I would like
to convert some of the Interleaf data to a database and maintain it in
either Access or Oracle.

Has anyone out there been successful in merging database information
with SGML using a FOSI to produce printed pages? If so, how difficult is
this to accomplish and what would be the mechanism employed to do it?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Thanks Jason. Unfortunately, I missed SGML 97. If you have the paper handy, I
would appreciate reading it. Did they publish the proceedings electronically?
