Revision Bars in 5.1

Revision Bars in 5.1

We are currently using Adept 4.1 and are testing 5.1. I've run into a problem with revision bars in 5.1 that I cannot figure out how to correct. We use an element called change-info that has a beginning and ending tag, that when used on text high lights the text and generates a bar in the outside margin of the changed text. The change bar works correctly in the body of the manual, it's when it is used on a title that the problem surfaces. The title element uses save text that generates the title on the first page of the chapter, an entry in the TOC and a running heading on the chapter. The change bars display correctly (3 picas from the edge of the paper in the outside margin) everywhere except in the running heading.

In the running heading the change bars displays or print 15.5 picas from the outside edge of the paper within the title. The Running heading is created with use text(title.txt), chap.ctr and page.ctr text.

Has anyone encountered a problem like this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Revision Bars in 5.1

I have
never encountered this problem, and it is difficult to guess at what might be
the problem without seeing some actual FOSI code. Or maybe it
really is a bug. Since you mention title.txt and a couple of .ctr
counters, I assume you are using FOSI.

Is the
running header text centered on all pages, left-justified on verso,
right-justified on recto, or what? Is it in the header part of your page? What
is the bar offset of your change bar? Change bar location is not
calculated from the edge of the paper inwards. From
Epic help: "When a bar is used for the change mark, if bar offset is
specified, it is used as the distance from the edge of the change mark area
nearest the associated flow text area and the (center of the) change bar. If bar
offset is not specified, the bar is centered horizontally in the change mark
area."

What
does your page model look like? Where is your change mark area
located?

Just
guessing.

RE: Revision Bars in 5.1

Have you tried put an <e-i-c> "context"
attribute on you change bar elements in the FOSI (in context of "title",
don't do a savetext). We've done this and don't have any
problem with change bar tags in titles (using Epic 5.1C).
