Sig 11 crash with lost data.

Sig 11 crash with lost data.

A couple of the installations that I am responsible for have had crashes
in the last couple of weeks. As far as I can tell they both occurred as
a result of an attempt to save a document. The document may be a
problem, but it gets erased and I have no idea if there is something in
the documents.

From what I understand both happened during a "save and exit".
* In one case clicked the big x in the upper right corner,
* clicked OK when it asked if the author wanted to save,
* then got an error "cannot save xxxxxxxx.sgm docname".
* Clicked OK and nothing happened.
* Clicked on File-->Save As--> and changed the name of the SGML
document (his theory was that maybe the document was getting corrupted
and he wanted a backup copy).
* During the Save As there was a Signal !! and the whole mess blew
up. Got a message that Editor had saved docname, and then editor
exited.
* There were two files left in the directory:
xxxxxxxx.sgm
xxxxxxxx.sgm.crf
Restarted Editor, picked the sgm file to load, picked
"my save" and the Signal 11 reoccured.
Restarted Editor, picked the sgm file to load, picked
the Recovery File to load. Sig 11 and sig 22, message filename.sgm
saved.

The problem now is that the sgml file is zero bytes and contains no data
and there is no longer an opportunity to use the Crash Recovery File
(crf). There is nothing to send in with a case and my only recovery
option it to interface with our IT department to get the most recent
backup copy restored.

No problems for years and then twice within a week of installing Editor
version 5.3m080 makes me worry.

Has anyone else seen a bunch of crashes with m080? I'm thinking of
backing up to verson 5.1.

Thanks for you comments,
-Andy
