Unable to find license key for trail version and CMS connector details

Hello All,

I have downloaded and setup the Arbortext editor trial version and trying to configure the CMS (Documentum) need following document, can someone provide the same unable to access.

http://www.ptc.com/WCMS/files/138341/en/cms_guide.pdf

Also, did not find the trail version / license key to configure to perform following steps.

You will use the PTC License Landing Page to configure the PTC Arbortext

software licenses for your hardware.

1. Go to the PTC support page at http://www.ptc.com/support.

2. Choose Arbortext.

3. Choose Arbortext License Support and log in to your PTC account when

prompted. You will need your login name, password, and Customer Number.

4. Choose your Product Family from the list.

5. Choose the Version from the list. The Hardware Selection is then displayed.

6. Enter the PTC Host Id (available by following the directions at the beginning

of this section). If your computer is already in the system, you can Browse for

it.

Enter the name for your computer in the Host/Triad Name.

The PTC Host Id and Host/Triad Name identify one of the following:

• A single computer for a node-locked license.

• A single computer that will be serving floating licenses to end users.

• A set of three computers (called a triad license server) that will be serving

floating licenses to end users. This type of licensing provides server

redundancy.

Click Continue.

7. If the Host ID is not in the PTC licensing system, you will be asked to enter an

installation address and contact that will be associated with the Host ID.

8. Confirm the combination of PTC Arbortext software and your hardware for

your license. Then click Get License. You will get a call number for

confirmation of the request.

As I am using trail version, do not have appropriate customer login to perform the above steps.. does any one know how to get trail version.

This is a common problem, I don't know why PTC have not corrected the web site. You need to contact PTC directly with your Host ID. See recent thread here: http://communities.ptc.com/thread/58729

Hi,

When you downloaded the software from the Free Downloads page there is a form that needs to be completed so PTC can send a trial license. The link is: http://support.ptc.com/appserver/mkt/products/tryout.jsp?&wcms_id=134918&hostid=null&program=epiceditor&campaign=null

Have you completed this form and still not received your license?

Please feel free to contact me directly so you can begin your evaluation.

Thanks

Susan

When I Submit the details with following Host ID (machine on which PTC Arbortext Editor with Styler is installed).

PTC HOSTID = 00-50-56-BA-01-2B

Above is generated using cpu_id.exe as per installation documents.

Getting message as INVALID HOST ID.

Also, I am looking for following document , unable to access.

http://www.ptc.com/WCMS/files/138341/en/cms_guide.pdf

Thanks in advance!

Hi Susan,

I just downloaded the trial version of PTC Arbortext and I have the form ready to submit so that I can receive a 14-day license key. However, I'm not sure what to put for a host ID, as I am not running the internet off of an ethernet card but through my mobile phone's hotspot connection.

Can you help me with this? I'd like to start using the Arbortext software asap today.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Misovich

You can generate your Host ID using the CPU_ID.EXE tool http://support.ptc.com/appserver/wcms/standards/freefull_cskdb.jsp?im_dbkey=90575

Hi Gareth,

I had already downloaded the file containing the cpu_id.exe file and tried running it several times. I even added the file and folder to my anti-malware exclusions list and tried one last time running the file after turning my anti-malware software off. No success. I just see the DOS window pop up for a split second, then disappear.

What am I missing?

Thank you,

Anne Marie

Yes it is a DOS tool. Copy the EXE somewhere easy to get to, then launch the command prompt.

http://www.7tutorials.com/7-ways-launch-command-prompt-windows-7-windows-8

Now you're in the DOS window, you need to change to the directory (folder) containing the CPU_ID.EXE, e.g.

C:\> cd \my\folder\with\exe

Now you are in the folder you can run the CPU_ID.EXE tool

C:\my\folder\with\exe> CPU_ID.EXE

You can copy/paste the HOST-ID output. It will be in the form "AA-BB-CC-DD-EE-FF", with a mix of letters and numbers.

Hi Gareth,

Thank you for your response. I now have my host ID, but now when I enter it into the evaluation license key request form and press the submit button I get the error message "Invalid host ID format." I tried it again with deleting the hyphens between the pairs of hex digits, to no avail - same error message.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Anne Marie

Thank You. I want to use the Documentum connector with the Trial version key which I have received.

Will trail version installation products provides the "Arbortext Editor, Styler, and Architect" as per setup guide that is required correct me If I am wrong ?

When I installed, I got following but not the Styler with Architect.

Products / Client
PTC Arbortext Editor 6.1 (64-bit)
PTC Arbortext Architect 6.1 (64-bit)
PTC Arbortext Editor 6.1 with Styler (64-bit)

Or this is not required for WDK setup "Arbortext Adapter to Documentum/WDK setup" ?

Arbortext Architect is not required to use Documentum.

Arbortext Architect is used for editing structural files used by Arbortext Editor, but these files may also be created and editing Arbortext Editor.

Arbortext Editor connects to Documentum.

Arbortext Editor with Styler connects to Documentum as well, but Styler allows editing style sheets for output to PDF.

Did you get your trial version of Arbortext Editor with the Documentum adapter installed?

Did you get your trial licenses?

I am waiting from APAC / INDIA sales team to revert - got required document signed and submitted for the same.

Good day Mitesh,

I would to follow up to see if you have been contacted or need additional assistance?

Best,

Toby
