finding generated text in footer (newbee)

We have a customized stylesheet. I am trying to find out where the generated text is coming from in the footer. I need to remove the word part#. How do I tell what tab I need to look at. Is it an element, property set..?

Thanks

Hi Bryon--

It depends which version of Styler you're using, but if you are using
6.0, it is probably defined as a Generated Content object. These are
listed on the sixth tab over (icon is some lines of text with a red
dotted rectangle around them). There may be more than one generated
content section you need to modify, if different page types use
different footer content (for example, odd pages vs. even pages).

I found the part# ref and went through every page and removed it from instance where I found it. My problem is it still shows up on my TOC. How do I find out where the TOC page is being generated from. I did modify contents pages, but it does not seem to correct my issue.

Thanks

Bryon

TOC entries (at least the ones created by FOSI) are supposed to be linked to the source. So if your cursor turns into a pointing finger when you mouse over the TOC entry, you should be able to double-click it and go to whatever is crating that TOC entry.
If you are not using FOSI, then this response will probably not be useful.

Hi Bryan,

To find the generated text for a ToC page, you can follow the
trail from the Table of Contents page set (on the Page Sets tab),
then look at the Page Types tab at the bottom to see what pages
are being used. You can then click the "Go To" buttons to jump to
each page. Then on the Page, you find the page region you're
interested in (the footer I think), and again click "Go To"
to go to the Page Region in question.

Finally, on the Text Tab of the Page Region, you can jump to
the Generated Text (another "Go To" button), and there you can
edit it to take out the part #.

Regards,
Richard

Oh Sorry - meant "Bryon" of course! 🙂

Thank you all for the responses, I have found the text entries and have removed them.
