system() creates modal window in Epic 4.4

Hi folks--

I'm launching an external application from the Epic menu using the system() function, and the launch works okay. The problem is that the "child" application is defined as a modal child window of the Epic edit window, so you can't switch back and forth between the two windows.

Does anyone know how to make Epic launch an external application so that its window is not modal?

I am not sure this helps Clay, but you are spawning a new thread with the
system call. It is like a child that does not care about its parent
anymore and vise versa.
We have written a java application that works directly with Epic. I have
solved this problem by running all of our applications through Epic's jdk.
This way everyone can talk to everyone else quite easily.

Try appending a "&" to your command expression in the system() call.

Joy!

That did the trick. Thanks, Paul!
