I am attempting to generate family instances of an assembly which contains a wire harness. Unfortunately, the instances involve multiple locations for some of the connection points and when I generate the instances the harness remains routed to the generic location of the connection points. Furthermore, the instances do not necessarily share a common subassembly to which the connection points are assembled. For this reason I decided to create copies of the harness in question and simply suppress the unwanted ones in each particular instance. However I do not seem to be able to copy the harness. I have tried opening the generic and, with the appropriate connection points displayed, copy the harness but I am unable to select any connection points on the model. I tried opening the instance and as soon as I got to the step where I select the connection points my model disappeared. I tried copying the harness part in windows to a new name and copying it in thinking that perhaps you couldn't copy an harness in that already exists in the model, no luck. I would even be happy if I could just do an exact repeat copy of the harness and then I could reroute the connections later. Is there some sort of magic trick to copying a harness? If so, would someone be able to share the secret. Thanks.
